Commonwealth Games School Sports

Volleyball

The Commonwealth Games is bringing the beach to Birmingham with Beach Volleyball, but don’t worry, we won’t be shipping tonnes of sand to your school. Our version adopts the 2 vs 2 set up used at the Games, just minus the sand. Through this high-energy activity, children’s hand-eye coordination improves, strength builds, and flexibility increases.

Commonwealth Games School Sports

Wheelchair racing

An opportunity for children to experience one of the standout events at the Games. Children learn the skills required to power and navigate a wheelchair around a course against an opponent.

Commonwealth Games School Sports

BOXING

Team England won nine medals in the last Commonwealth Games, topping the medal table. Building both mental and physical strength, this event sees children take part in combat style challenges using gloves and pads.

Commonwealth Games School Sports

Athletics

Athletics events at the Games range from ten seconds to two days. Rest assured, our timescales are towards the shorter end. At our Athletics station, children take part in standing long jump and speed bounce.

Commonwealth Games School Sports

Netball

Team England secured a historic victory at the last tournament, winning their first Commonwealth Games gold medal for netball. Being a core sport and having featured in the Games since 1998, no Bring the Power workshop day would be complete without this event. At this activity station children are to shoot for goal with the aim of getting four in a row.

Activities provided are dependent upon hall space and weather conditions.
